Chateau Ormes De Pez Saint Estèphe 2019

Château Ormes de Pez Saint Estèphe 2019 comes from one of the historic estates of Saint Estèphe on Bordeaux's Left Bank. Owned by the Cazes family since 1939, the same family behind Château Lynch Bages, Ormes de Pez has earned a reputation for producing one of the appellation's best values. The 40 hectare estate sits on a mix of gravel, clay, and limestone soils, with cabernet sauvignon planted on the gravelly ridges and merlot thriving in the cooler clay parcels. The estate combines traditional Bordeaux winemaking with sustainable farming practices, including HVE Level 3 certification.

The 2019 vintage is a blend of 50% merlot, 40% cabernet sauvignon, 7% cabernet franc, and 3% petit verdot. Each parcel is vinified separately before the final blend is assembled, allowing the estate to highlight the strengths of each vineyard site. The wine is then aged for 16 months in French oak barrels, 45% of which are new, giving the wine structure and complexity without overwhelming the fruit.

The exceptional 2019 growing season produced a wine of remarkable concentration and balance. It opens with aromas of blackberry, blackcurrant, plum, cedar, graphite, tobacco, and baking spice, supported by polished tannins and the classic freshness that defines Saint Estèphe.
