Midland Shenandoah Valley Chardonnay 2022 is an estate-grown chardonnay from Midland, a family-run winery working out of Mount Airy Farm in the heart of Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley. Founded by the Jordan family, Midland reflects a hands-on, craft-oriented approach to both viticulture and winemaking, with a focus on sustainable farming and expressing the character of their cool, limestone-influenced site. The 2022 chardonnay is made from 100% chardonnay grapes grown on their steep, well-drained slopes, and showcases a thoughtful balance of fruit purity, texture, and acidity typical of the region’s cooler climate.
In the cellar, this vintage saw careful barrel fermentation and extended lees aging—around 18 months in neutral and seasoned oak—without filtration, allowing the wine to develop depth, minerality, and a layered mouthfeel. Tasting notes often mention orchard fruit and subtle baking bread or beeswax nuances, with a vibrant backbone of acidity and a mineral edge that speaks to its Shenandoah Valley origins, making it a great pairing for richer seafood, poultry, or creamy dishes.
