Schramsberg Blanc de Blancs 2022 - 375ml

Schramsberg Vineyards is one of California's pioneering sparkling wine producers, founded in 1862 on Diamond Mountain in Napa Valley. The historic winery was revived in 1965 by Jack and Jamie Davies, who transformed the abandoned property into America's premier producer of traditional method sparkling wine. Schramsberg earned international recognition in 1972 when President Richard Nixon served its Blanc de Blancs during the historic "Toast to Peace" banquet in Beijing, making it the first American wine poured at an official White House state function abroad.

The winery works with more than 75 cool climate vineyard sites across Napa, Sonoma, Marin, and Mendocino, sourcing fruit from growers who share its commitment to sustainable viticulture and exceptional quality. Every vineyard block is harvested by hand, and much of the production remains remarkably hands on. Bottles are still riddled by hand in the winery's historic caves, while select lots are barrel fermented to add depth and complexity before the wines undergo extended aging on their lees.

The 2022 Blanc de Blancs is made from 100 percent chardonnay and continues a tradition that began with the winery's inaugural release in 1965 as America's first commercially produced chardonnay based sparkling wine. Fruit is sourced primarily from Sonoma and Napa, with small additions from Mendocino and Marin. About 22 percent of the base wine is fermented in oak barrels, while the balance is fermented in stainless steel. After secondary fermentation in bottle, the wine spends approximately two years aging on its lees before disgorgement, creating a sparkling wine that balances freshness with richness and finesse.

The 2022 vintage is bright, energetic, and beautifully balanced, offering aromas of green apple, citrus, and white peach layered with subtle notes of vanilla, fresh pastry, and ginger. Fine bubbles and vibrant acidity carry the wine through a long, clean finish, making it equally at home as an aperitif or alongside oysters, crab cakes, grilled seafood, roast chicken, and aged cheeses. It is one of the benchmark sparkling wines of the United States and a compelling alternative to Champagne.
