Mary Taylor / Benjamin Ravier Chignin blanc 2023 comes from the alpine vineyards of Savoie in eastern France, where Benjamin Ravier farms on the steep southwestern slopes of the Bauges Mountains near the village of Chignin. The wine is part of the Mary Taylor portfolio, a négociant project focused on small regional growers producing traditional, site driven wines from lesser known appellations across France. In this case, the emphasis is very much on the grower and the distinct mountain character of Savoie rather than branding or cellar technique.

The wine is made from 100 percent jacquère, the classic white grape of Savoie known for its naturally bright acidity and mineral profile. The vineyards are farmed under HVE sustainability standards, with the steep, high drainage sites benefiting from abundant sun while maintaining cool alpine conditions. Fruit is harvested by hand, gently pressed, and fermented in stainless steel without skin contact. The wine then spends several months on its fine lees to build texture while preserving freshness and clarity.

The 2023 vintage reflects the direct and mountain driven style typical of Chignin. The wine leans toward citrus, white flowers, orchard fruit, and stony mineral notes, carried by lively acidity and a clean, lightly saline finish rather than richness or oak influence.

A classic alpine white from Savoie focused on freshness, restraint, and the clear expression of jacquère and mountain terroir.
