Château Canadel Bandol rosé 2025 comes from a relatively young estate with a strong sense of place in the Bandol appellation. Jacques and Caroline de Chateauvieux acquired the property in 2007 and entrusted its vineyards to their daughter Laure, an agricultural engineer, and her husband Vianney, an agronomist and oenologist. They began producing their own wines in 2014, with the estate now farmed organically and incorporating biodynamic practices. The 15 hectare vineyard is planted on terraces near Le Plan du Castellet, with the surrounding hills helping create a distinctive microclimate.

The rosé is built around the traditional Bandol combination of mourvèdre, cinsault, and grenache, with mourvèdre playing the leading role. Much of the fruit is direct pressed, with additional short skin contact used to give the wine more texture and structure than a very pale Provençal rosé. Fermentation and aging take place in temperature controlled concrete tanks rather than oak, keeping the wine focused on fruit, freshness, and the character of the vineyard.

The result is a more substantial style of rosé, with citrus, peach, subtle spice, and a lightly saline finish. The mourvèdre gives it enough structure to work particularly well with food, while the cinsault and coastal influence keep the wine fresh.

A traditional Bandol rosé that shows why the appellation's mourvèdre based wines can have both freshness and enough structure to develop with age.
