Domaine de la Pépière is one of the benchmark producers of Muscadet and has played a central role in elevating the reputation of the appellation over the past four decades. Founded in 1984 by Marc Ollivier, the estate earned international acclaim for proving that Muscadet could produce wines of remarkable depth, complexity, and ageability. Today the domaine is led by Gwénaëlle Croix, Rémi Branger, and Sébastien Bretaudeau, who continue the estate's commitment to expressive, terroir driven wines while honoring Ollivier's pioneering vision.
The estate farms approximately 45 hectares in the heart of Muscadet Sèvre et Maine using certified organic practices. Vineyards are rooted in a mosaic of granite, gneiss, and gabbro soils, with each parcel vinified separately to preserve its unique identity. Grapes are harvested by hand or with great care, fermentations occur with indigenous yeasts, and the wines spend extended time on their fine lees, building texture and complexity without sacrificing freshness.
La Pépie 2025 is made from 100 percent melon de bourgogne sourced from younger vines planted on a mix of granite and gneiss soils. Fermented in underground glass lined concrete tanks with native yeasts, the wine remains on its fine lees for several months before bottling, adding a subtle creaminess while preserving its bright, energetic character. The result is a fresh, approachable expression of Muscadet that showcases the purity of the grape and the maritime influence of the Loire Valley.
The 2025 vintage is crisp, vibrant, and wonderfully refreshing. Aromas of lemon zest, green apple, white peach, and citrus blossom lead into a palate layered with ripe orchard fruit, saline minerality, and lively acidity. The finish is clean, mouthwatering, and lightly savory, making it an ideal companion to oysters, shellfish, grilled fish, fresh goat cheese, or simply enjoyed on a warm afternoon.
