Domaine Plageoles Syrah 2021
A distinctive take on syrah from one of southwest France’s most historic estates, rooted in the Gaillac appellation. Domaine Plageoles has been family run since the early 1800s and is now in the hands of brothers Florent and Romain Plageoles, who continue the work of their father Bernard in championing organic farming and low intervention winemaking.
While the domaine is best known for reviving rare indigenous grapes, this syrah shows their thoughtful approach to international varieties as well, shaped by limestone and clay soils and a focus on purity and balance.
The 2021 is fresh and expressive, with dark berries, black pepper, and subtle spice layered with a touch of earth. The palate is medium bodied with bright acidity and fine tannins, giving it energy and lift while still delivering depth and structure.
A lively, terroir driven syrah that feels both classic and a little off the beaten path, great with grilled meats, lamb, or a simple charcuterie spread.
