Bernabeleva Camino de Navaherreros Tinto 2025

Bernabeleva Camino de Navaherreros tinto 2025 comes from the Sierra de Gredos area west of Madrid, where Bernabeleva has become one of the key producers associated with the revival of old vine garnacha in the region. The estate was originally founded in the 1920s, but its modern direction began when a new generation of the Álvarez Villamil family shifted the focus toward organic farming, minimal intervention, and the character of the high elevation granite soils surrounding San Martín de Valdeiglesias.

The vineyards sit between roughly 600 and 800 meters above sea level on decomposed granite and sandy soils, conditions that naturally limit vigor and help preserve freshness despite the warm central Spanish climate. Much of the fruit comes from old bush vines farmed organically and harvested by hand.

The 2025 bottling is composed primarily of garnacha with a smaller portion of tempranillo. Fermentation takes place with indigenous yeasts in a mix of stainless steel, concrete, and large wooden vats, often with some whole clusters included. Aging is carried out mainly in large neutral oak and tank for about six months, with no new oak influence and minimal manipulation before bottling. 

The overall style reflects the broader Sierra de Gredos movement toward lighter, more transparent expressions of garnacha. Rather than emphasizing power or extraction, the wine leans into freshness, herbal lift, and mineral tension shaped by the granite soils and elevation.

A modern but regionally grounded expression of central Spanish garnacha from one of the producers that helped bring renewed attention to the wines of Gredos.
