Domaine Collotte is a family estate in Marsannay la Côte, where the family has grown vines for more than a century. Philippe Collotte joined his father at the domaine in 1981 and expanded the property from roughly three hectares to 16; his daughter Isabelle joined in 2014 and now works alongside him. Although their holdings extend into Fixin, Gevrey Chambertin and Chambolle Musigny, Marsannay remains the heart of the domaine. The domaine follows certified sustainable farming practices, with soils worked by plowing rather than chemical herbicides and an emphasis on biodiversity and relatively low yields.
En Combereau is a one hectare parcel of pinot noir situated mid slope at roughly 300 meters, near the southern edge of Marsannay, on clay limestone soils. The domaine’s single vineyard reds are made according to the same restrained protocol to highlight differences between sites: hand harvesting and sorting, complete destemming, a cold pre fermentation maceration, indigenous yeast fermentation in tank and gentle extraction using pigeage followed by remontage. Élevage is approximately one year in French oak barrels, with only a modest proportion of new wood, giving the wine structure without obscuring the character of the vineyard.
The 2023 is particularly aromatic, with ripe red cherry, cranberry and blood orange joined by rose petal, subtle spice and an earthy mineral note. The palate combines generous fruit with freshness and tension, showing fine, chalky tannins and a supple texture. It finishes long and energetic, balancing the depth of En Combereau with the lifted character that makes Marsannay increasingly compelling.
