Domaine Huet Le Mont Sec Vouvray 2024 comes from one of the Loire Valley’s most historic and influential estates. Founded in 1928 by Victor Huet and his son Gaston, Domaine Huet helped establish Vouvray as one of the world’s great homes for chenin blanc. The estate remains closely associated with meticulous vineyard work, biodynamic farming, and a deep belief in the ability of site to shape the wine. Today the domaine farms three primary vineyard sites Le Haut Lieu, Le Mont, and Clos du Bourg each bottled separately to highlight their distinct identities.
Le Mont is often considered the most structured and mineral driven of the three sites. The vineyard sits on shallow, stony clay soils over limestone, with good exposure and natural drainage contributing to wines that tend to show precision and longevity rather than immediate generosity. Farming is fully biodynamic, with considerable work done by hand throughout the growing season.
The wine is made from 100 percent chenin blanc. Fermentation takes place primarily with indigenous yeasts, largely in old oak barrels and large neutral vessels that allow gradual development without introducing overt wood character. The “Sec” designation indicates a dry style, though Huet’s wines often retain the texture and tension that make Vouvray distinctive even at lower residual sugar levels.
The 2024 follows the classic Le Mont profile structured, restrained, and built around acidity and mineral expression more than fruit weight. It is a wine intended as much for evolution as for immediate drinking, reflecting both the site’s limestone foundation and Huet’s long standing commitment to patient, site driven winemaking.
A benchmark Loire producer and one of the clearest expressions of traditional Vouvray through the lens of careful farming and understated cellar work.
