Domaine Grosbot Barbara is a small family estate in Cesset in the historic Saint Pourçain appellation of central France. The domaine was established in 1996 when Denis Barbara partnered with the Grosbot family, combining generations of local vineyard heritage with modern winemaking. Today the estate farms about 8.5 hectares spread across a patchwork of clay limestone, granite, and sandy soils, producing wines that celebrate one of France's oldest yet often overlooked wine regions.

The estate follows thoughtful, hands on vineyard practices with a strong emphasis on expressing the individuality of each site. The vineyards are currently in conversion to organic farming, reflecting the family's commitment to healthier soils and long term sustainability. Work in the vineyard focuses on careful canopy management, controlled yields, and preserving the character of traditional local varieties, particularly tressallier, the rare historic grape that defines the identity of Saint Pourçain.

Vin d'Alon is the domaine's signature white wine, named after a historic vineyard site whose reputation dates back to the reign of Henry IV. It is a blend of 70 percent chardonnay and 30 percent tressallier, a combination that is unique to the Saint Pourçain appellation. The grapes are fermented separately in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks to preserve freshness and aromatic purity before being blended into a wine that showcases both the richness of chardonnay and the vibrant character of tressallier.

The 2024 vintage is bright, energetic, and wonderfully expressive. Aromas of lemon zest, grapefruit, crisp pear, white flowers, and fresh almond lead into a palate with lively acidity, subtle mineral notes, and a refreshing saline finish. It is a versatile white that pairs beautifully with oysters, shellfish, grilled fish, fresh goat cheese, and lighter poultry dishes, offering a distinctive taste of one of France's most historic and underappreciated appellations.
