In 2007, he purchased 2.5 hectares of vineyards across five distinct sites, seeking out old vines and healthy soils that had largely escaped the industrial farming practices of the Communist era. His family’s historic cellar dates back more than 120 years, and his approach reflects a desire to revive Sopron’s tradition of small parcel viticulture and site specific winemaking. Today, Peter works primarily with kékfrankos, pinot noir and traditional Hungarian white varieties, producing small quantities of naturally made wines that emphasize the character of their individual vineyards.

Peter farms organically, maintaining natural ground cover and encouraging biodiversity rather than relying on chemical fertilizers or herbicides. Vineyard treatments are kept to a minimum, generally involving small applications of copper, sulfur and homemade nettle preparations. All vineyard work is carried out by hand, without routine tilling or leaf trimming. His vineyards encompass a variety of soils, including limestone, schist and volcanic formations, with each parcel harvested and vinified separately. In the cellar, he relies on spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts, minimal sulfur additions and no fining or filtration.

The 2022 Pinot Noir is sourced equally from two vineyards in Sopron: Kräfter, with approximately 35 year old vines planted on limestone, and Kögl, where 45 year old vines grow on iron rich schist. Each site contributes a distinct clonal selection of pinot noir, although their precise identities have been lost over time. The wine undergoes spontaneous fermentation in open wooden vats with 100% whole cluster inclusion, followed by approximately three weeks of skin contact. After pressing, it undergoes élevage for approximately one year in previously used oak barrels before being racked and bottled. The extended whole cluster fermentation contributes aromatic complexity and structure, while the seasoned oak allows the character of the fruit and individual vineyard sites to remain prominent.

The wine displays aromas of dark cherries, wild berries and ripe plum, accompanied by notes of licorice, green pepper and earthy spice. On the palate, it combines generous fruit with refreshing acidity, gentle tannins and a savory, subtly rustic character. The finish is long and layered, with lingering notes of forest floor, dried herbs and spice.
