Raina Campo di Colonnello Bianco 2024
Raìna is the project of Francesco Mariani, based near Montefalco in Umbria. He founded the estate in the early 2000s with a strong focus on native varieties and biodynamic farming, working on a small scale and with minimal intervention in the cellar. Trebbiano spoletino is especially important here: a local variety with naturally high acidity and far more structure and aromatic intensity than the generic “trebbiano” name might suggest.
Campo di Colonnello 2024 is 100% trebbiano spoletino from a south-east facing vineyard around 220 meters elevation. The grapes are harvested by hand and fermented spontaneously with indigenous yeasts. The wine sees short skin contact before fermentation and then ages on its fine lees in tank for roughly six to seven months, with no oak, followed by a short period in bottle. It is bottled without fining or filtration.
The wine is golden and textural, with citrus, ripe yellow fruit and more exotic notes alongside herbs and a subtle savory edge. The palate has real depth but stays fresh through firm acidity and a lightly phenolic grip, finishing dry, mineral and gently herbal.
