Bera Vittorio & Figli is a small, family owned estate in the hills around Canelli, where the Bera family has farmed since the late 1700s. Today the winery is run by siblings Alessandra and Gianluigi Bera, who have earned a strong reputation for traditional, low intervention wines that emphasize freshness and site over winemaking influence. While best known for Moscato d'Asti, the estate also works with classic Piedmont varieties including arneis, cortese, favorita, and barbera.
The family farms about 12 hectares of certified organic vineyards without synthetic herbicides or pesticides, harvesting everything by hand. Fermentations rely on native yeasts, sulfur is used sparingly, and the wines are typically bottled unfined and unfiltered. Their philosophy is to let each vineyard speak for itself, producing wines with energy, texture, and a clear sense of place.
The 2023 Arcese is one of the winery's signature white wines, built around arneis and cortese with smaller amounts of favorita and sauvignon blanc. The grapes are harvested and fermented together with native yeasts before aging on the lees for several months in stainless steel and concrete. The wine is bottled with a touch of residual sugar, allowing a gentle secondary fermentation in bottle that creates its signature light spritz.
Bright and lively, Arcese offers aromas of white flowers, peach, citrus peel, fresh herbs, and almond. The palate is crisp yet textured, with vibrant acidity and a subtle natural fizz that adds freshness without feeling sparkling. It is an exceptionally food friendly wine, pairing beautifully with seafood, fresh cheeses, vegetables, and lighter pasta dishes.
