Champagne

Collection: Champagne

Champagne, known as some of the world’s best sparkling wine, originates from its namesake region in northeastern France, and is known for its cool climate and chalky soils—ideal conditions for growing chardonnay, pinot noir, and pinot meunier, the primary grapes used in Champagne production. The region's winemaking history dates back centuries. The 17th-century monk Dom Pérignon is often credited with improving viticulture and vinification standards in the region. Champagne's signature method, known as "méthode champenoise" or traditional method, involves a second fermentation in the bottle, which gives it its fine bubbles and complexity. While region is famous for its prestigious houses, or "maisons," like Moët & Chandon, Veuve Clicquot, and Dom Pérignon, there are wonderful small, artisanal producers worth exploring. Champagne styles range from crisp, light Brut styles to richer vintage cuvées and rosé variations.
