Heitz Cellar Cabernet Sauvignon 2022 comes from one of Napa Valley’s foundational estates. Founded in 1961 by Joe Heitz, the winery helped define what Napa cabernet could be, particularly through its early single vineyard bottlings like Martha’s Vineyard, which played a major role in establishing the idea of site expression in California.

While ownership has changed over time, the core philosophy has remained consistent. Today the estate continues to focus on organically and biodynamically farmed vineyards across Napa Valley, with an emphasis on balance, moderate alcohol, and wines built to age rather than immediate impact.

This bottling is 100 percent cabernet sauvignon, sourced from a range of sites throughout the valley. Each parcel is fermented separately, allowing for careful selection and blending, and the wine is aged in oak with a restrained approach that supports structure without dominating the fruit. The goal is not to highlight a single vineyard, but to present a broad, classic view of Napa cabernet through the Heitz lens.

The 2022 vintage follows that house style. Rather than pushing ripeness or weight, the wine leans toward composure and structure, with steady acidity and fine tannins guiding the profile.

A benchmark Napa producer with a long view of cabernet one rooted in tradition, site awareness, and a style built for longevity rather than excess.
